Most schools offer a program of physical education, art and vocal music. Band and strings instruction is offered in grades 5 through 8 (a pilot program at Esperanza is starting at 4th Grade). A full music program is offered in the middle and senior high schools. A comprehensive program of bilingual/bicultural education is offered for all students.

An enrichment program is available for students who show evidence of creativity, either artistic or intellectual curiosity, strong leadership abilities, maturity beyond their age, and who are strongly motivated to learn.

Sunnyside features an alternative education program for students who demonstrate a genuine desire to earn credits toward graduation in a setting away from the traditional high school. The district offers complete homebound services, a Teenage Parent Program, and operates a summer school program with selected courses for students in grades K-12. The District has an All Day Kindergarten program, a preschool program called El Centro Alegre, and elementary counseling program, and Sunnyside-Up, a program for 3 and 4 year olds and their parents, in conjunction with Pima County Adult Education, Head Start, and Sunnyside Toyota funding.

Transportation
Students in grades K-8 who live more than one mile from school are transported by district school buses. High school students are transported by the district if they live 1-1/2 mile from school.
