General Information
Vail School District has been in existence since 1903 and has a history of providing quality education with personalized atmosphere that comes with a traditional, @ setting and a high level of parental involvement. The district is located 22 miles southeast of downtown Tucson and encompasses an area of approximately 400 square miles, extending east to the CocMse County Line.

Size of District
Three campuses: including (K-5) Classrooms and a (6-8) Middle School. Students in 9 through 12 presently attend high schools in adjacent school districts, with Vail School District paying tuition. 1997/98 school year the school moved to a year round multi-track schedule, increasing the capacity of the schools by about 25%

Educational Information
A comprehensive curriculum is offered for grades K-8. The middle school provides opportunities to take Skills for Living, Algebra and Spanish. Physical education, music, art and computer programs are available for all students.
A Special Education program is available for students with identified disabilities. Students needing programs not provided by the district are transported to other districts. Remedial programs in reading and math are also offered.
Vail schools will soon be operating on a Modified School Calendar.
The Schools
Acacia Elementary is a new, 3.5 million dollar school housing K-5th grades.
Old Vail Middle School was recently renovated and a new AM size medium built.
Transportation
Transportation provided for almost all students who attend Vail. T rtation @ provided for high school @cents attending Sahuarita, Sabino, and Santa Rita High Schools.
Other Services
Special Education, Chapter I(remedial math and reading programs), gifted education, preschool handicapped program, computer labs, and full service libraries. Specialty teachers provide instruction in physical education, music and art.
Extra programs and services are also provided, including a full service day care program for 2-5 year olds, a variety of interscholastic athletics, academic competition teams, summer programs, Hands Across the Border (a student exchange program with a rural school in Mexico) and community education.
