General Information
Since 1889, the Flowing Wells School District has been setting the pace for excellence. The District is located on the northwest side of metropolitan Tucson, covering an area of approximately 12.5 miles bounded by Ina Road and the Santa Cruz River on the northwest to Grant Road and Fairview Avenue on the southeast. Approximately one-third of the school district's southern area lies within the Tucson city limits.

Educational Information
K-5 has emphasis in the development of basic skills. The Flowing Wells reading program has received nationwide recognition as one of the finest in the country. Each school has reading specialists to work with children and teachers, and a full range of programs designed for children with special needs. Vocal music and physical education are taught at all elementary grades, and instrumental music begins in grade four. Health services are provided by a nurse at each school. Maintaining a low teacher/student ratio is a major effort of the district. A program for the gifted is provided for qualifying students at all grade levels.

6-12 provides a continued emphasis on academic skills with a broad range of career applications and expanded opportunities for students to select classes in specialized areas. Students may pursue courses in the fields of. science, math, social studies, English, foreign languages, vocational education, and fine arts. Also a well rounded selection of extracurricular clubs, activities and athletics are available.

Transportation
Transportation services are provided for all kindergarten students and elementary students one mile or more from school, for junior high students more than 1-1/2 mile from school, and for high school students residing more than two miles from school.
